RE: Who is in AZ for the winter?

Just across the river in Laughlin, heading to CA for the Holidays, back to Laughlin NV for New Years, then to Quartzsite, Yuma and maybe Mesa.

RE: Economy Downturn

OK, gotta throw my 2 cents in. We own our s&b free and clear and we travel as snowbirds 4-6 months each year. During the spring and summer we also travel a lot, but not for any real extended time frame, maybe 2-3 weeks.
We had considered selling the s&b earlier in the year, but since not many are selling we will hang on to it for now.
We actually live cheaper when we snow bird and if we sold the s&b, even though it is paid for we would save close to 10,000.00 a year. This includes utilities, property taxes, license and insurance on 2 cars, 1 truck and the m/h. In Utah, license for RV's is not cheap, 985.00 for the m/h this year compared to 81.00 if full time in SD. Also, we wouldn't need the other car or the truck for yard work.
Yes, I guess it is a mind set, you have to enjoy being able to kick back with no grass to feed, weed, and cut. Cleaning 340 sqft compared to 2000 sqft, hook up and move if a rude or obnoxious neighbor moves in the neighborhood, (can't do that in a s&b)
Ok, I've rambled on enough.
Sometimes we can't wait to get home after a trip and most of the time we wonder why still have a s&b

RE: Will Beaudry Survive ?

I heard that Camping world (freedom Roads) was thing of or is buying them out.
Interesting, I was told by Camping World in SLC Utah that Beaudry was buying some of the Camping Worlds. This came from one of the Managers.

Installing a Washer/Dryer

Has anyone had a washer/dryer installed in their m/h when it didn't come from the factory installed? I found where it has been preplumbed for water lines, but don't see the elect or drain being preplumbed/wired. What problems did you run into?

RE: Estimating Kilo Watt Hours

This will be the first year we will be staying anywhere longer then a week, so trying to figure out if it's more cost effective to run elect or propane on the water heater and furnace's vs elect space heaters. Don't want to get a surprise like I did in Yuma a few years ago when I ended up with a 38.00 elect bill for one week. Yes, we used elect water heater and (2) space heaters.

Estimating Kilo Watt Hours

Is there a formula for estimating kilo Watt hour usage on electric water heaters and elect heaters?

RE: Extended Warranty Offer

I had the GS CSP for 4 years and was happy with it. I was never asked for any maint. receipts when I made claims, even on my last claim for the Transmission rear seal replacement. They covered the seal and labor and paid the shop after getting the bill faxed to them. I think we both broke even on the cost. When I responded to one of their mailers recently I was quoted 2495.00 for one year. My original for 4 years was a little over 3400.00. Not sorry I did that, as they covered the Micro/convection oven, water pump, 3 leveling jack seal repairs, 1 jack replacement, the replacement of the VDC, waterheater, stair motor, dash air and a few other things, all were paid in full except the Dash A/C where I paid the 50.00 deductable because I had Freightliner do the work. This time I put the money into a CD. If I find the time I'll sit down with all the receipts and see if I broke even. One bill was around 1800.00, the micro/convection oven along with a jack replacement and a jack repair all at one time.

RE: Vacuum

Have the InterVac, took a few mins. to install on wall behind pass. seat. Great vac, with the hose (extends to 40') I can also vac the Toad. Only two screws to hang it. And if we ever get another rig, it can go with us with no real visable holes left behind. Got ours in Tucson last year from a another RV'er who sells them.

RE: Check your MH insurance value !

On my policy it states:
Comprehensive: ACV not to exceed $53,000 (SA)
Collision: ACV not to exceed $53,000 (SA)
Not sure exactly what this means.
Can anyone please clarify for me?
If I understand the term ACV, it means they will pay you what the NADA book shows. For your's low retail is 29,910 and average is 36,030. I would think you need to talk to them and verify what I just said. If that is true, then they need to adjust your premium to reflect the lower ACU, not the 53,000. they are showing. It could save you money.
If I'm wrong on this way of understanding, let me know. I'm not an Insurance adjuster.

RE: Has it changed any?

Yep, I resemble that. But we've been happily married for 30+ years and in that time I have been taught that when she is ready then we'll go. One of my sil's asked me what the secret was to our happy life together. This was just before he was to marry our oldest. I told him in all sincerity that it was easy, just remember these few words, " yes dear, you're right, I was wrong, I'm sorry". Sure has made life a whole lot easier.

RE: Check your MH insurance value !

I too went with Progressive Insurance. We agreed on the price I paid and they will replace with another at that amount in the event of a total loss.
So, if I understand those of you with Progressive, if you purchased your m/h 7 years ago at 140,000.00 and today it's book value is 60,000.00 they will replace the m/h with another one equal to 140,000.00 in the event it gets totaled?

RGV Ain't Windy

Hope all you Winter Texans are enjoying your wind free days, cause all the wind in the Country has to be here in Bullhead City, AZ. So far I have had to replace one gas spring on the m/h door when the wind got the best of the DW. Today my mat that was staked down tried to take off like a rocket, even with the dog gate, bricks and folded down chairs on it. Two of the hold downs ripped. So I parked the toad on it, ain't seen the Toad flying yet, but won't surprize me if it does. Any one know how much wind it takes to blow over tall palm trees, there is one right beside me. On the bright side at least it's a warm wind and not blowing snow.

RE: Washer/Dryer in Tradewinds

It is preplumbed under the one large closet in the bathroom. My concern is that under the closet I have drawers and need to know if those have to be removed or does the w/d sit on top of the drawers. That is why I'm looking for the same m/h with a w/d already installed. I've never seen the inside of the LTC so not sure if it has the same floor plan.
